While we love the mix of everything we do in the Shaw, our heart will always be firmly planted in music. All three of our dance floors bring something different to the equation, meaning that whatever you’re looking for atmosphere wise, we’ve got it.
Over the years we’ve hosted countless gigs of all shapes and sizes, from local collectives showcasing Irish talent, to some of the biggest touring acts in the world..
There’s been some stand out events, including acts who played the venue early in their careers before shooting to superstardome, or bonifide legends playing a more intimate than usual set. A sample of those acts looks a bit like this:

Spaces at the Shaw
We’ve got three separate spaces we run gigs in, all with distinctive personality and history - the Mainfloor, Racket Space and Beatyard.

THE MAINFLOOR
A an open space, inspired by the dramatic elevated DJ booths of NYC clubs of the 90’s. The DJ plays from level 2, while punters can move around the ground floor, which fits 350 people, or join the DJ on the 2nd floor, which fits an additional 150. For live performances the stage goes on the ground floor, which means people can watch a set from the balcony’s of level 2 if they wish, or get stuck in on the dance floor.
RACKET SPACE
Our basement venue, The Racket Space was built to be a space that could host both live artists and DJ’s with ease. The room has an industrial, warehouse feel — raw concrete, exposed beams, and a lighting system that runs throughout the walls and ceiling, adding a huge energy to the space. At a capacity of 300, the intimate room can be set up in our ‘centre court’ style, with the DJ booth planted in the middle of the room, or on the stage in the corner.
THE BEATYARD
A beer garden, food court, and often times – a dancefloor. With a DJ booth at the front of the space, there’s plenty of room for dancers and diners alike. Now covered (important with Irish weather), you can head out to listen to a dj set or rapper perform, grab a pint from the outdoor bar, and enjoy food from Shaw Kitchen, all in the same place.
